Released in January 2010, Golden Shamrock is NetEnt’s take on the ever popular Irish mythology game filled with leprechauns and pots of gold. You have to commend NetEnt for making a rather flexible game. In Golden Shamrock, you can adjust both your bet level, and the amount of active paylines you have active. This means that the slot is playable for as little as $0.20 up to $40, which will entertain low to medium rollers.
More profit orientated players looking for massive wins, however, probably will not find this NetEnt release so interesting, as the top payout is not that exciting, and there is an upper limit as to how many coins you can win.
The playable symbols in the game are about as stereotypically Irish as you would expect them to be. Different coloured sacks of gold, an accordion, mugs of beer, a smoking pipe, a green leprechaun hat, a harp, a golden horseshoe, and a pot of gold.
Scatters give you a very powerful Free Spins bonus. Three or more Scatters will turn on the bonus rounds, and from there, you can keep retriggering the special by getting two or more Scatters which will give you either more free spins, or an added multiplier.
Once the Scatter bonus completes, the slot pays out the total amount times the multiplier, which goes up to 5, depending on how many Scatters you had.
The theme has been done over and over again, and we would prefer to see more unique releases, especially from a giant like NetEnt. That said, it is a competent game, and if you enjoy this sort of theme, you will like cheery music as well as the wins that come often enough. In our opinion, NetEnt could have done better for this release, but we recommend trying it out regardless.
